2016 RIO Olympics Rugby Schedule

The 2016 Rio Olympics rugby schedule will take place between August 6-11, 2016. Rugby 7’s is the game format that is approved for competition during Rio 2016. The last time rugby was played during the Summer Games was the 1924 Olympics when it was rugby union. The sport was approved for adoption during the current and 2020 Summer Olympics for both men’s and women’s events. There will be a total of 16 teams from the various regional qualifiers to include: 4 from Europe, 3 from Africa, 3 from Asia, 2 from Oceania, 2 from North America and 2 from South America.
