2016 Rio Olympics Modern Pentathlon Schedule

The 2016 Rio Olympics Modern Pentathlon schedule will be held from August 18th through August 20th, 2016. The events will take place at the Deodoro Aquatics Centre, Deodoro Stadium and Youth Arena. For the 2016 Games, there will be a total of 36 athletes that take part in both the men’s and women’s events. All of the venues for the pentathlon are located within 300 meters of each other. The events will included pistol shooting, épée fencing, 200 m freestyle swimming, show jumping, and a 3.2 km cross-country run. During the running and pistol shooting events, athletes will see four rounds of shooting that are each followed by an 800 meter run. The athletes will have to shoot five targets during each of the rounds of firing and have to load the gun after each shot. The fencing section of the event has been changed from last year to include a new “bonus round” system to lets all of the fencers have a chance to earn bonus points.
