Now that we have the first week of play under our belts, there has already been a significant amount of movement across the week 1 college football AP Poll. We had a number of teams live up to expectations like the Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson, Ohio State, and Michigan. As a whole; however, the SEC had its worst opening week of play in more than two decades. Besides having Mississippi State and Kentucky upset by teams that should not have occurred, LSU and Ole Miss also failed to live up to their preseason hype against Wisconsin and Florida State respectfully. And of course, no one could miss the meme of Florida State kicker, Ricky Aguayo, single-handedly outscoring five SEC teams by himself last night with booting six field goals in the comeback win over Ole Miss. We also saw a huge win for Houston over Oklahoma this past weekend to put the Cougars into the college football playoff discussions already this season after their strong showing in 2015 as well as the upset that the Texas Longhorns pulled in double OT against Notre Dame. Some of the big “winners” in the AP poll this week include Houston with a jump to #5, Wisconsin from not-ranked to #10, and Texas from unranked to #11. It definitely promises to be another exciting season of college football for all of us to enjoy! If you would like to checkout the schedules for many of the major conference football teams this season, we have a grunch of them posted here to enjoy.
