2016 All-NBA Team Announced, Anthony Davis Loses $24M

The 2016 All-NBA Team has been announced. Un-surprisingly NBA MVP Stephen Curry was a unanimous pick for the All-NBA First team, and New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis was shutout of the selections this year. As a result of Davis’s non-selection, he loses approximately $24 million USD base on his contract status and the “Derrick Rose Rule.” Other players selected for the first team include Cavaliers forward, LeBron James, Thunder guard Russell Westbrook, Clippers center DeAndre Jordan, and Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard. This marks the 10th time in 13 season that James has been named to the All-NBA First Team which is the second-most in NBA history. Notable players selected to the second-team include Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, DeMarcus Cousins, Damian Lillard, and Chris Paul. Lillard’s selection will net him an extra $13 million USD over his five year contract extension based on the “Rose Rule.”
